John Wall wins MVP of Rookie Challenge game

John Wall of the Washington Wizards was the first overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft and it's only fitting that he was the best rookie and overall player on the court during the NBA All-Star weekend's Rookie Challenge, winning both the game and MVP. While Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers was the hometown favorite, he didn't play long enough to make as much of an impact of Wall who finished with 12 points and a record 22 assists. The previous record in the game was held by Chris Paul who had 17 assists in 2007. Wall provided many alley-oop passes to his fellow rookies, including Griffin who finished with 14 points, as well as former Wall teammate at Kentucky, DeMarcus Cousins, now with the Sacramento Kings accumulated an impressive 33 points and 14 rebounds.

March 2010 NBA Mock Draft

With the 2010 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament near completion and the NBA Playoffs just over the horizon, it’s becoming easier and easier to speculate on players’ stocks for the upcoming NBA Draft. While this draft doesn’t have the talent of some other years, there are plenty of names to be familiar with.
Without knowing the order of the top of the draft (the draft lottery drawing doesn’t take place until the playoffs), here’s how the lottery might look if it were held today.

2010 NBA Mock Draft December Version

June is the month for the NBA Draft, when fans and experts alike chart players and teams to determine which future prospect will be taken by which team. The process is both exciting and captivating, as it hints at the future of many NBA ball clubs. Yet, NBA Draft buzz doesn’t start in June. Even though the college basketball season is just underway, murmurings of where players might go in the 2010 NBA Draft have already surfaced. Here’s an early look at how the draft might shape up.
1. New Jersey Nets select PG John Wall, Kentucky, 6-4, 195lbs
Wall is the consensus top pick at this point. Wall has great size and athleticism for a point guard. After six games, he’s averaging 18.5 ppg, 7.8 apg, 4.0 rpg, 2.5 spg, while shooting 56% from the field and 80% from the line. He somewhat resembles Derrick Rose. Though the Nets have Devin Harris, it’s hard to imagine them passing on a potential superstar like Wall.
